MUCH MORE TO COME!

I bought this film new from a professional photo store in Helsinki, Finland in 2004, I think. It was kept in a refrigerator storage (2-6 degrees Celsius), I think. I kept ALL my films until July 2014 in deep fridge (at least -18 degrees Celsius) basically from the moment I got them. Then, as my company moved to a new location I had no more enough deep freeze place for all my films, like these sheets. Inside, where the films have been stored, the room temperature has been ca. + 3 .. 10 degrees Celsius during wintertime (ca. November – April) and ca. + 10 .. 17 degrees Celsius at other times. During January – May 2016 ALL films were well covered outside at ca. -33 .. + 10 degrees Celsius and after that time I moved all my films inside (temperatures as above). Usually, black-and-white film is not sensible at all for expiry dates, as it has no colors to go fishy.

This auction is for a OPEN BOX (ca. 45 sheets) of Kodak Technical Pan 4×5” for sale, which weighs 260 g. Note that I have another closed box of 50 sheets that weighs 275 g, and the scale’s inaccuracy is +/- 5 g, see attached photos. I used the ca. five sheets to make the work I have never been loved for my exhibition In My Black-and-White Life (I have never..). I wet scanned the film 5000 dpi with my Fuji Lanovia C-550, and the size (112 x 145 cm2) of the print was only limited by the width of my printer (Epson 9600) at hand at the time – the film resolution (and file I made) I could have used for ANY print size I would have desired.

This film was my absolute favorite. As a “tech guy” myself, I perhaps need no other explanation. You know, you could pull it down to 8 ASA, so now we’re talking about really slooooooow film.

Yet this film is pretty difficult to process, to get the optimal results one would need the own special developer, Technidol. I hated this because the developer was so damn expensive and I would use Ilford ID 11 (powder) diluted and already used once or twice with other films. Well, the results varied. Yes, of course I had also 135 film to play with, not only this expensive 4×5” sheet film. Oh those were to good old days.. luckily I have forgotten the most..

One of my favorite fine art works (exhibited) on Tech Pan (135) was from a great place that once upon a time was even much greater. As I was making the digital print, I noticed that once I wet scanned the film 5000 dpi with my Fuji Lanovia C-550, I could go to soooooooo much detail in the image that I never knew existed in the place in real life; not even did I notice them as I walked there after taking photo at long distance. And this I only made with 35 mm Tech pan (Estar thin base) film with semipro camera stuff (Canon EOS 5 + EF 28 –135 mm lens, if remember correctly). Now, think about what you could do with a 4×5” camera and proper lenses (if you don’t have them yet, you are welcomed to buy mine)?!

I believe this was the finest grain film ever made to the great public. Kodak announced discontinuing it 2003 in the specifications and I read from a thread that after 06/2005 Tech Pan 4×5” was no longer made.

I am selling my films because I am getting old, read more of my reasons. But for selling the almost last batches ever made Kodak TP 25 means something else. It means I am mad, gone insane. But still, it would not mean that I have become stupid as well.

With utmost reluctance I am selling this rare film buy it now 220 euros, local pickup, testing and reasonable offers welcome.

So go ahead, grab yourself these films while the stock lasts – these films are no longer produced! 🙂

Yes, of course, I will combine shipping for reduced shipping costs. I urge you to my buy more from me and will be flexible with it. Please note the somewhat expensive shipping costs from Finland, especially if insurance is needed. If the value of order gets to a higher level, I insist on taken an insurance for the shipping.

If you buy this item – please keep it in deep freezer for best results! 🙂
