MANY THANKS FOR LOOKING!
MUCH MORE TO COME!
I bought this camera second hand with a suitable used Canon Power Booster E1 in 2003 from a professional photo store in Helsinki, Finland. I have thought I got this camera a bit late of “the wave”, but is seems that this body was manufactured/sold brand new from 11/1998 to 2007, so no. The EOS 3 price was something like 1500 USD (VAT 0 %) new around 1999, and I could get two to three EOS 5s with that money so, no I surely couldn’t afford it at the early days. 🙁
This camera is by far my most advanced (and professional in that sense) film camera body, with a maximum continuous shooting speed of 7 fps and a 45 point autofocus system eye controlled! But with my four eyes (plastic spectacles on top of my real eyes) I can’t remember this eye-control autofocus really kicked ass, as it was also the case with the EOS 5 that used much harder (I had three of them, in all). Still, there is no question about the fact that I never have had another camera with which the autofocus would be so super duper hyper speed and well-functioning as is it with the EOS 3. The design of the EOS 3 differs quite a lot to EOS 5, in the sense that the latter is easily recognized as more semi-pro and the former more full pro. Yes, there are many reviews of the camera, all pretty much appraising it highly. The only thing is that if you want to use it fully also in vertical shots (and want to save with expensive lithium battery costs), you need the power booster/vertical grip. Lucky for you, I have it also for sale. 🙂
As I got this body somewhat late to my glory days as a paid (gig) photographer, so I can’t say that I would have used the machine a lot to my standards. It was always a joy to use and burning film was super easy and fast. With this camera body you probably want to have proper glasses as well, and so did I and bough a couple L series longer lenses to go with it. Yes, now I remember, we once (2006) had the Formula 1 cars driving in Helsinki downtown, and the same year Lordi won the Eurovision song contest (Finland has always been a loser but this one time..) so take a wild guess who was where and doing what? 😉
I tested this camera on February 2016 with two different lenses and I found no problem with it. The only problem was with me, and that is the reason I’m selling it. Yes, I have also lenses that do not work with autofocus and in that case the magnificent autofocus of the body does not help me at all.
With great reluctance I am selling this very nice camera body in auction, starting 1 euros, with reserve and buy it now 200 euros, shipping only to be done fully insured, local pickup and testing welcome. You get the lithium battery (expired) that I opened from it box for camera testing as a free extra, as well as the Canon strap.
I am no camera selling professional and am not officially qualified to judge the condition of this camera body. I have checked the camera (with lenses) and I haven’t noted anything in malfunction. Cosmetically it is as you see from the photos. I have marked it good condition, as stating “very good” would be, I believe be too much, although in eBay there might be many to state that.
Remember if you buy outside EU and you are in EU, you need to pay customs tax (typically ca. 5 %) and VAT (typically around 20 – 25 %) which are added on top of shipping and insurance costs. To my understanding, these costs are calculated and due regardless of the age and condition of the item! There are calculators on-line for this, like from Pitney Bowes.
Yes, of course I will combine shipping for reduced shipping costs. I urge you to my buy more from me and will be flexible with it. Please note the somewhat expensive shipping costs from Finland, especially if insurance is needed. If the value of order gets to a higher level, I insist on taken an insurance for the shipping.
